Traditional Chiropractic Care

vs

Chiropractic Biophysics Corrective Care

There is no doubt that chiropractic adjustment, physiotherapy, massage, acupuncture can help the majority of patients feel better, reduce pain, improve mobility and function.

However, there is a group of patients who do not respond with any of these treatments. Why is that ?

Researchers started to look into this and found that groups with certain spinal curvature/posture have a higher chance and recurrence of chronic neck and back pain compared to groups without.

The founder of Chiropractic Biophysics discovered this and further developed this evidence based and most researched chiropractic technique focused on improving health and function, reducing chronic pain and symptoms by restoring abnormal posture and curvature in the spine.

Do you remember our parents always telling us to sit straight at a family dinner?

Do you remember when you saw some elders who have a hunched back posture, you will quickly feel this is not normal ?

Just like everything else, there is normal and abnormal spinal curvature, deformity and posture in your neck, mid back and lower back. If it is abnormal, there is a highly likely that you are susceptible to chronic neck and back pain, headache, or even lately researches found it can correlate to decrease volume of air into the lungs when breathing, limited shoulder mobility, decrease baseline range of motion, higher chance of falling and even mortality rate in subjects with Hyperkyphosis.

The most validated method to evaluate spinal mechanics and posture is full spine radiographs in a weight-bearing position on the side and also front to back position.

Our head weighs around 10-14 lbs like a bowling ball and loads on top of our neck. When we have a normal lordosis (curve in the neck that bends back on the left picture), the muscles, ligaments and joints are the least stressed and balanced. If our head is shifted forward by 1 inch and with a kyphosis (curve in the neck that bends forward on the right picture), the pressure on the spine is doubled, and 6–8 times more specifically at the lower neck and prone to pain and function.

Can this be corrected ?

Yes, but not with traditional chiropractic adjustment, massage, non-posture specific physiotherapy exercises or other conservative treatments.

The vertebras (bones in the spine) are held by strong ligaments just like the gums between your teeth. If you want to make your teeth straighter, you should go see the dentist and get some teeth braces. It applies pressure in specific areas and over time it will change its position.

In a clinical setting, there are 3 specific therapies we will prescribe to create lasting change.

To monitor your progress, we also conduct a multiple evidence-based objective measurements including PostureScreen which is an analysis of your posture from different angles, range of motion and sitting ergonomics, etc. We will perform one at the beginning of the program and review periodically over time.
